The Union Executive consists of the President, the Prime Minister, the Council of Ministers and Attorney General of India.

Attorney General of India is said to be the first law officer of the country. He is appointed by President to advice Union Govemment on legal matters, to represent the Govemment of India in Courts during trial in important cases and to perform any other legal duty assigned.
